Nowadays two types of clinics are distinguished. They are so-called “family dentistries” and narrow specialized dental centres.

In the clinic of the first type all procedures are performed by a general practitioner. Such procedures as: dental extractions, treatment, prosthetics, implantation. In especially difficult cases that require help or consultation of some particular specialist, a general practitioner sends the patient to a specialized dental centre.

Due to these circumstances there may occur a risk of incomplete treatment. Being afraid of losing a potential patient sometimes doctors may try to solve the problems that require the help of a “narrow” specialist by themselves. As a result – decrease of the treatment quality.

Another type of clinics is narrow specialized dental centres, where doctors specialize on one or two concrete problems. In such a clinic a patient usually is not provided with a complex treatment plan. Visiting such clinics makes sense if a patient knows for sure the cause of his problem and doesn’t need complex treatment.

Here you may come across a risk that a dentist will try to solve all the patient’s problems by themselves, while treatment at some other specialist might have been more effective. For example – a prosthetist will try to convince in installing a removable denture, while the best variant for the patient is implantation. Such methods may lead to aggravation of the mouth cavity and even influence general health condition badly.
